Very common products with which it is very convenient to take away various drinks and foods with you. Paper cups, bowls and coffee cups are also very convenient for take away food producers and sellers. However, the biggest problem is their excessive introduction into nature. A very large part of such cardboard dishes do not decompose. They remain in the environment as garbage.

Classically paper cups are made of cupboard PE coated material. This means that their inner side is covered with a thin film layer. This is how the liquid resistance of the products is achieved.

Paper cups for serving cold drinks are also covered with a film layer on the outside. This way, on hot summer days, an ice-cold drink poured into a cup will not soak the outer surface of the cup due to the condensation that forms there.

Since 2021, coffee cups made of completely plastic-free material have started to be used more and more. In the case of these products, the inside of the cups is covered with a special environmentally friendly and biodegradable emulsion layer. That ensures water resistance.

The most used are the so-called single-layer cups, which, as the name suggests, are made of only one layer of cupboard. To make it easier to take hot drinks with you, many coffee cups are equipped with an extra layer, so-called double-layer cups. The outer layer added in this way can be both smooth-surfaced or with a relief. The options for overprinting are relatively classic for cups – printing with one to four colors (up to CMYK) is what most people want.

The range of lids is also wide enough. Plastic lids made of petroleum-based plastics (mainly PS material) are the most common solution. Biodegradable and compostable lids made of natural starch, bioplastic are also used. Standard plastic covers can be black, white or any other color. Biodegradable lids are mostly either white or black.

In addition, plastic-free cup lids pressed from cardboard have also started to spread recently.
